Friends, in a milestone for us last week we have started 2 new residential homes for tribal children in Mandla (Madhya Pradesh) for children Grade 9 onwards (who are exiting out of our Seva Kutirs system). 2 rental properties have been taken in Mandla town (which is the district headquarter) which are housing 60 boys and 28 girls respectively. These Homes have been named ‘Parivaar Vivekananda Vidyarthi Sadan’ and ‘Parivaar Bhagini Nivedita Sadan’ (on a lighter note – we have now tried all kinds of combinations of compound names with Ramakrishna, Sarada, Vivekananda, Nivedita and Sevashrama, Seva Kutir, Teertha, Bhavan, Sadan, Vidyapeeth etc. All these children have been admitted into Government High Schools…We will be building permanent residential campuses in each of the 5 districts in MP where Seva Kutirs are operational (the construction of 2 is already going on – in Dewas and Sehore disrticts). Reminds me of the day when Parivaar was started in a rented building outside Kolkata city with 3 children way back in 2003.
