Many friends over last 4 days inquired about the well-being of our Parivaar Bengal campuses, which are located in 24 Parganas (South) which had the severest natural disaster in last 2 or 3 centuries. Perhaps people outside Bengal have not realized the enormity of it, much due to the ongoing mega-crisis. At our on campuses hundreds of trees have been uprooted which stood there for many decades even before we set up our institutions there. Many of our buildings, like oldest three which had asbestos roof, have been damaged badly. All shed structures and buildings having tile-roofs have roofs completely broken. Electricity not there for last 4 days and not likely to be restored possibly for weeks. But we have nothing to complain. Lacs of people have lost their homes. About 10 of our sevavratees (full-time staff) have their homes damaged – more than a quarter of them have their homes completely gone. We have offered many of our buildings for accommodating homeless in our panchayat area and nearby panchayats. We will also have to help rebuild homes for many – including our sevavratees.
This is NOT an appeal for Parivaar. By Grace of God we are in a position to restore things to their earlier state and help those in our immediate zone of reach. I would request people to support any ongoing relief efforts in Bengal, particularly in interior Sundarbans and Ganga Sagar area.
To begin with I recommend supporting the organization Kishalaya of Biplab Das working in Sundarbans. Will suggest more options of organizations to contribute in due course. One can contribute to Kishalaya through the following link :
