Nivedita Samman Award

Shobhabazar Rajbaari in North Kolkata is an iconic place where Swami Vivekananda delivered his first speech in Calcutta after his triumphant return from the West in 1897. Yesterday (25th Oct), at this location, I was deeply privileged to receive the Annual ‘Nivedita Samman’ from the Governor of West Bengal Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar. This Award is given each year in the week of Nivedita’s birthday (which is on 28th Oct) and has been instituted by Sister Nivedita Mission Trust. Sister Nivedita occupies a very central place in my thoughts and imagination and so of course this was very special.
