Some Recent Laurels in Parivaar Basketball Circuit

We are glad to share some key achievements over the past few months from our Basketball Excellence Program which is carried on by Parivaar in collaboration with Hi5 Youth Foundation.
1. Baisakhi Mardi , a girl from the remote village of Birbhum district of West Bengal was selected to represent the State School Basketball team (u-14 category) in the School National Championship which was held in Barmer, Rajasthan from 5th January 2024. She performed exceedingly well in the district Championship to catch the eyes of the selectors.
2. Mukunda Sardar, a boy from the islands of Sundarbans, West Bengal also confirmed his selection in the State School Basketball team (u-14 category) following his performance in the School District Championship. He went on to represented West Bengal in the School National Championship which was held in Rajnandgaon , Chhattisgarh from 5th January 2024.
3. Subha Kotal, a boy from the district of Jhargram was selected to represent West Bengal (u-19 category) in the School National Championship organized in Chandigarh, Punjab from 5th January 2024 after his excellent performance at the district level.
4.Lalita Singh, another promising basketball player from the remote areas of Jharkhand was selected to represent West Bengal in the 77th Junior National Basketball Championship in Bhubaneswar organized by Basketball Federation Of India and Odisha Basketball Association from 3rd February 2024.
5. Hi5 Nationals 2023 :- 10 boys and 10 girls from Parivaar travelled to Hyderabad to participate in the Hi5 Nationals where teams from different States trained by Hi5 participated. Teams from Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu , Maharashtra, Gujrat and West Bengal participated in the tournament who have been trained by Hi5.
Tournament was organised from 17th December to 22nd December.
Our girls team played 4 matches where they defeated 3 teams to secure the runners up position.Our boys team played 4 matches and won only one thus had to settle for the fourth position.
6. Hi5 Nationals 2024 :- Another national meet for U-14 category was arranged by the Hi5 Youth Foundation at Secunderabad for a week similar to the tournament organized in December 2023 where there were teams from Maharastra, Telengana, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. 6 teams participated in each category of boys & girls. Two teams from Parivaar Bengal, 10 players each for boys and girls participated in this national meet. This time our boys team clinched the title by winning all the matches but unfortunately the girls team had to settle for the third position.
7. Five of our children (girls) who were selected (names given below) to participate in the 67th State School Basketball Championship 2023 U-17 category organized by District Council for School Games and Sports , Birbhum. This was organized at the Bolpur Girls High School, Birbhum from 15th to 17th December 2023. Our girls represented the South 24 Parganas and it finished 3rd place behind south Kolkata who were runner up and Birbhum eventually were the Champions.
8. Our team also participated in State 3rd Division Men’s League from 2nd Jan to 7th Jan 2024 and State 3rd Division Men’s Knock out championship in which they coudnt qualify for the next round. They were playing against professional players who have been playing the sport for years. So probably the exposure will help them in future.
