In the last one month I spent 18 days in Mandla district of MP where we have 25 of our Seva Kutirs in as many interior adivasi villages. In each of these Kutirs, on an average a 100 children and 10 elderly persons are served meals (both lunch and dinner), in addition to the education program for children daily. The condition of a large number of elderly people in this village was also so bad (even deteriorating further after the general loss of income of families in general during the Corona crisis) that everyday they totter towards our Kutir with a stick and reach a couple of hours before our meal times in eager anticipation.
During this visit of mine we also closed the purchase deal of a new Building Block in Mandla town which can accommodate 125 girls. This will be used as a Girls’ Hostel (named Parivaar Bhagini Nivedita Sadan) and will have girls from Grade 9 to grade 12 and upwards in Higher Education who come out of our various Seva Kutir villages after their Grade 8. Already, 32 girls had been staying here since we took up a floor of this building on rent last year. Now we have taken the entire 10 thousand sq ft property at a price (post registration etc) of Rs 1.5 Cr.
